Fruit infused water

Whether you call it fruit infused water, detox water or even flavoured water, the following simple additions to your water can have a big impact on your body.  The infusion usually involves any combination of fruits, vegetables and herbs immersed in cold water.


These combinations are not only full of flavour; it also contains almost no kilojoules, which makes it a potent tool in weight loss efforts.

The detox tea option

There is always the option of detox tea if the idea of infused water doesn’t appeal to you.  Detox tea have added benefits.  It may assist in lowering the risk of stroke and heart disease and may help to ease a number of pains and inflammation.

Try this green tea detox recipe – it is a delicious metabolism boosting powerhouse. Keep a jug in your fridge and drink your way to a faster metabolism.

Makes 8 servings

  • 7 cups water
  • 5 organic green tea bags, with the paper tags cut off
  • 1 lemon, cut into rings
  • 1 orange, cut into rings
  • ¼ cup ginger, peeled and sliced into rings
  • ¼ cup fresh or frozen mango, cut into cubes
  • ¼ cup fresh or frozen pineapple, cut into cubes

In a medium-sized pot, combine the water and ginger, bring to a boil.  When the water starts to boil, remove from heat, add the tea bags to the pot and steep for about 15 minutes.  Strain the brewed tea into a jug and discard the ginger and tea bags.  Add in the lemon, orange, mango and pineapple, cool to room temperature before refrigerating.

Most people find it sweet enough with the mango and pineapple, but if you’re looking for a sweeter tea, add raw honey in moderation.
