THE USE OF FACE MASKS IN INTERCARE FACILITIES

The use of face masks and gloves can increase the risk of transmitting COVID-19 if used in an inappropriate setting. All the Intercare facilities apply the recommendations made by the World Health Organization (WHO) in relation to the use of protective equipment.

As such, Intercare team members and healthcare professionals may not always wear masks or gloves when going about their tasks. However, strict protocols are in place regarding hand hygiene, social distancing and facility disinfection.

Patients and visitors have an important role to play and we ask that anyone coming to an Intercare facility take the following measures for their own protection, as well as the safety of other patients, Intercare team members and healthcare professionals:

•    Disinfect your hands regularly using hand sanitisers provided. If these are not available, please notify Intercare team members or management immediately.

•    Practice social distancing of 1.5m from Intercare team members at counters and other patients in waiting rooms.

•    Practice appropriate cough and sneeze etiquette using your flexed elbow.

•    Reduce the handling of your mobile phone within the facility and avoid touching surfaces unnecessarily.

•    If you are coughing, have a fever, sore throat or other flu-like symptoms and have a face mask, please wear it when visiting an Intercare facility. A video on the correct application of a face mask can be found at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWnTCZWYOBw

•    Notify reception if you have any of the above symptoms and/or have had any contact with someone confirmed or suspected as having COVID-19.
