Dr Lisa Lovell graduated from the University of Pretoria. She then relocated to KZN where she mostly worked in paediatrics, before moving back to Pretoria. She works part-time at a hospice and is passionate about palliative care. She enjoys keeping fit and spending time with her husband and two daughters.

Dentist

Dr Marike Bogenhofer obtained the BChD degree from the University of Pretoria in 2013 and furthered her studies in Interceptive Orthodontics (UWC) and Paediatric Dentistry (UP). She got awarded the SADA Leadership Medal and is part of the Golden Key Honorary Society. She has been a part-time lecturer at the School of Dentistry of Pretoria since 2016. She has a good sense of humour, is caring, gentle and patient, and finds great joy in educating patients as their treatment commences. She has an eye for detail and appreciates fine art and good craftsmanship. Children have a special place in her heart (having two boys of her own), and she believes a good exercise session makes the world a better place.

Dr Marilie Hugo (BChD) graduated in 2004 from the University of Pretoria. She received a distinction in Advance 1 for ballet through the Royal Academy of Dance. Dr Hugo has a passion for working with children. She is a mother of two beautiful children and enjoys road running.

Dr Dominique Klomp graduated from the University of Pretoria, having obtained several awards as a student. For her, dentistry is the perfect blend of art and science, and being patient-centred is close to her heart. Whether a patient’s concern is cosmetic, restorative, or a dental emergency, Dr Klomp aims to create a genuine rapport with each of her patients and provides them with the excellent, individualized care they need.

Dr Debbie Armstrong

Dr Debbie Armstrong qualified from the University of Pretoria in 2009, completed a Diploma in Anaesthetics in 2014, and completed a CDE course for Diabetes. She has been a general practitioner in Pietermaritzburg for more than ten years. Dr Armstrong is particularly interested in geriatrics and mental health. She is passionate about older people and makes house calls at retirement facilities when needed. She is empathetic and understands the complexities of not only the physical needs of patients but also their emotional needs. Dr Armstrong is an avid musician who has played the cello since age six. She is married and has three children.

Dr Rika van Aswegen graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2000. She holds certifications in advanced adult and paediatric life support and worked in emergency medicine for 15 years, locally and abroad. She is passionate about assisting patients with their treatment and recovery from illness and has a particular interest in acute medicine, trauma, orthopaedics, psychiatry, and paediatrics. She loves reading and spending time with her family and friends in her free time.

Dr Zain Surtee graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand (Cum Laude). He is committed to lifelong learning and continuously participates in innovative courses and training to enhance his skills and stay abreast of dentistry. Apart from general dentistry, he improves smiles with clear aligners. He sees compassion, communication, and collaboration as the foundation of treatment. Dr Surtee is dedicated to connecting sincerely with each patient to provide individualized care.

Elmarie Scott obtained the National Diploma in Oral Hygiene from the University of Stellenbosch in 1994. In addition, she graduated from Peninsula Technicon with the Expanded Functions qualification. In her free time, she enjoys cooking & baking with her family.

Dr Jess Burgess obtained the MB ChB degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2018, and in 2021, she received a Diploma in HIV management. Dr Burgess is interested in a collaborative and holistic approach to health and quality of life. She enjoys minor surgical procedures and has a basic and essential surgical skills qualification (BESST). Dr Burgess is particularly interested in sports medicine, women’s health, and sexual health for both men and women. She loves to keep active and enjoys running, hiking with her dog, and exploring new places in South Africa.
